Technologist
BerryWorld is the UK's leading soft fruit marketing company supplying berries year round to the major supermarkets. A position has arisen within the technical department for a technologist. This role is within a small team and will offer the right candidate the opportunity to progress and further develop their existing technical skills.
The Technologist position responsibilities will include;
- Working directly with retail customers and managing the implementation of their technical requirements and policies
- The development of packing staff and systems
- Working directly with growers worldwide to meet both their needs and those of the retail customer
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate;
- An understanding /background in the fresh produce sector
- Qualification to degree level in horticulture or a related discipline
- The ability to work effectively in a team
- The ability to work independently
- The ability to make decisions and operate confidently
- Clear and logical thinking with a proactive approach
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good numeracy skills
- Good IT skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Management Trainee Scheme

If yes, then this is what the BerryWorld Technical Management Trainee Scheme can offer you:
- Structured approach to four different roles over two years, three within the BerryWorld head office team, one in technical, two others possibly packaging and IT, plus one on a grower's farm.
- Customer Awareness: Our product is grown for major retail chains, hence the need for extremely high quality standards.
- People Management: working with a small skilled team to develop the business and working towards management of one of the smaller retail accounts. The farm role will be according to your background and experience.
- Technical Expertise: BerryWorld head office and their grower-base around the world and UK are always involved in creating or evaluating new ideas and approaches to expanding both the quality and quantity of their service to the retailers. Trainees are expected to work within a team, or take sole responsibility for some projects.
- Financial Awareness: Over the two years you will be expected to learn the financial consequences of your decisions.
- Business Awareness: The aim for those completing the two year trainee scheme is to be able to take considerable responsibility within some aspect of the technical function of soft fruit marketing.
- Self-Managed Learning: There will be a 'guiding hand' for general support, but your achievements are down to your ability to learn, demonstrate your abilities and as a result carve out an opportunity for yourself as the scheme concludes.
