Berryworld have launched the first washed and ready to eat blueberry snack pack in the UK, "Snackerries". The convenient packs are sold alongside sandwiches in the chilled counters catering for lunchtime and snacking on the go. Retailing from 99p for an 80g bag, they provide one portion of the recommended 5 a day. Berryworld will be extending the Snackerries range to include other delicious, healthy berry options, watch this space!
BerryWorld are very focussed on new product development, striving to ensure that we are offering customers the best possible choice. We carry out regular consumer research to find out what people think about our existing products, ranges, packaging etc, and also show them potential new packs. The feedback we obtain is crucial in guiding us when we consider new products.

Launching new berry varieties
This is a very exiting area, particularly when you consider the amount of work that goes into the breeding of a new variety (see BerryWorld Plus for more info). We have launched a new strawberry variety called English Rose which is stocked exclusively by Waitrose. It is a premium strawberry, offering exceptional flavor and aroma.
Berryworld are launching two exclusive new strawberry varieties for summer 2008; Eve's Delight and Sweet Eve, which have both been selected for their superb flavour. The new berries will be available from early May through to the end of October and will change the industry, offering the consumer consistent and top quality everbearer strawberries throughout the summer.
Launching new pack formats
For example mixed berry packs. BerryWorld lead the industry, offering the widest selection of packs, with bespoke versions created for customers. The image below shows a pack launched in summer 2006 to give consumers a selection of berries in a good value pack. These packs allow people to try berries they may be less familiar with, and are perfect for creating a quick healthy desert. We also have lots of exiting plans in development, for unique products that will be launched later this year.
Prepared Fruit
The BerryWorld 'ready to eat' prepared fruit packs were successfully launched in June 2006.
Only the freshest best quality berries are used for these packs. The fruit is carefully hand picked by our growers, prepared and washed. Fruit is packed and merchandised in refrigerated conditions to ensure the customers receive a fresh good quality product.
Fruit is sourced from the UK when available and the product range is adapted to reflect seasonality.
In a market where healthy eating food 'on the go' is increasingly popular we are continuously looking for new opportunities and ideas for this product format.
British-grown berries account for a large percentage of the total volume of berries bought by consumers each year.
